This ambitious young lady was 11 years old when she came to the Netherlands to follow an international education. She was born in the United States of America but she attended primary school in London. Her roots however lie in Sierra Leone and Cameroon.
Fareda’s parents are both dark-skinned, whereas Fareda has a skin condition called albinism. Albinism is characterized by a lack of pigmentation in the skin, eyes and hair. People that have albinism have pale skin and can be very sensitive to sun exposure. People with albinism often have eye problems. There are several types of albinism. Fareda has oculocutaneous albinism, type 2 (OCA).
For her personal school project Fareda created a suncream for a group of children in Sierra Leone that have albinism. (www.goldenshade.nl. In addition to this she also donated caps and t-shirts to these children as they have an increased risk of getting skin cancer due to the extreme sunlight in Sierra Leone. Fareda is intelligent but also creative and enjoys sports. She likes taekwondo, dancing, writing and modelling of course! Through the unique characteristics of her hair and skin, model Fareda looks beautiful on photos.
